30 Heroes for 30 Years: Nick Lambie, Ziebart

Serving in the United States military was always something Nick Lambie thought of while in high school. With great grandparents who served in the Navy and a grandfather wounded in World War II, Nick felt the call to continue the tradition of service.
In high school, Nick toured the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Colorado. That sealed his interest in the Air Force. However, instead of pursuing a career as an officer, Nick enlisted. He became a Command & Control Battlefield Management Operator and Surveillance Technician. It was his job to identify aircraft in the battlespace and separate friend from foe. He did tours of duty in support of operations in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria. Nick also worked stateside to help with air movements over high profile events, including helping to support Air Force One.
While Nick left active duty in 2017, he was not done serving. He switched over to the New York Air National Guard, where he continues to serve today.
Nick said that Ziebart grabbed his attention, and he started planning on opening his first location while still on active duty. When the opportunity arose, Nick and his brother went into business together.
When asked about how his time in the Air Force has impacted business ownership Nick said, “What I learned in the Air Force was the leadership part of it, leading a team… mentoring a group of guys. That’s big while I lead a group of employees. Also, attention to detail. Detail oriented in the Air Force was key, or bad things happen. I try to uphold the same level of pride in the brand, part of something bigger than myself.”
Nick is so committed to the quality of the Ziebart that he is now opening up a second store, and recently won a spot on the prestigious 2022 Franchise Rock Star List. VetFran is proud to have Ziebart as a 5-Star Premium member, and we wish Nick continued success as he serves both his nation and community.
