30 Heroes for 30 Years: Beth Powers, Signarama

Beth Powers attended Western Michigan University on a ROTC scholarship and then joined the Army in the Air Defense Artillery after graduation with a degree in Engineering. She held many different positions – Launcher Platoon Leader, Fire Control Platoon Leader, and even Executive Officer. She ended her service in 2002 as a Captain.
Like many in the Army trying to transition out, Beth started looking at her civilian options but didn’t know exactly where she would land. She eventually accepted an offer from AOL to work a call center in Florida. Beth worked her way through various jobs as her career progressed, each time being appointed to roles of leadership.
Finally, in 2017, Beth and her husband knew they were ready to be business owners and start to pursue their own slice of the American dream. Using a discount that is available to Veterans from Signarama, Beth landed in Michigan with two franchisee locations. She is working hard to grow the client base for those two locations and make them the best they can be.
Beth said, “Being a leader is all about working with people, accomplishing missions, motivating the team…” She understands that pre-maintenance checks and bringing diverse backgrounds together are skills she learned in the Army and are key to her continued success as a business owner and community leader.
